LATISSE in OKC at BodyTrends

Wouldn’t it be Great if you never had to apply Mascara again? Do you get tired of applying false eyelashes? The Sunday morning or late-night trip to the grocery store would be without self-consciousness, like it does for many women with thin eyelashes. Women who have the problem of thin, sparse eyelashes known as hypotrichosis may have already tried a number of eyelash growth products, like LiLash, Jan Marini, Marini Lash, Revitalash, Enormous Lash, Talika, Mavala, and Rozge. None of these products or cosmeceuticals has been demonstrated to be effective in clinical FDA trials. Latisse is the first and only FDA approved medication and eyelash growth product to make eyelashes grow, and may be your solution to this problem. In OKC Latisse is now at BodyTrends.

What is Latisse?

Latisse is the trade name for Bimatoprast, a synthetic compound in the prostaglandin family, which, under the trade name Lumigan, is also used as an eye drop to control the progression of glaucoma. It was noted incidently but fortuitously, that glaucoma patients using the eye drops were seen to grow long, thick and dark eyelashes. On the basis of these finding, clinical trials investigating the use of bimatoprost as a cosmetic drug began. In December 2008, the FDA approved bimatoprost for the cosmetic use of darkening and lengthening eyelashes. Single drops of Latisse are applied nightly, just before bedtime, to the clean surface of the upper eye-lid using a sterile applicator. Eyelash lengthening, thickening and darkening are seen within 45-day period.

How Latisse Works?

The precise mechanism of action for Latisse has not yet been elucidated, however the current research suggests that the growth of eyelashes occurs by increasing the percentage of hairs in the part of the hair-follicle growth-phase known as the anagen phase. It is also believed that Latisse increase the duration of the anagen growth phase. Studies in the clinical trial showed that by 16 weeks 78% of study participants showed significant increase in all three measurements: Length (25% longer), Fullness (106% thicker) and Darkness (18% darker).

Possible Reactions

As with any medication, there is a possibility that Latisse may have side-effects, which although rare have been reported.. Latisse may cause skin irritation, redness or itching at the site of application. It may also darken the skin at the point of application, it may also cause slight darkening of the i

When Beauty, Talent & Intellect interfaces with BodyTrends Taylor Treat The New Miss Oklahoma Photo by Coutney Morehead You had to be there in person at the Miss Oklahoma 2009 pageant at the Mabee Center at Oral Roberts University to understand the moment. The tension was so thick, itc ould be cut with a knife. It was 10:17PM, and Emoly West, Miss Grand Lake, a previous runner-up at Miss Oklahoma and a strong candidate to win, had just been named second runner-up. That Changed everything, as some people figured that Emoly West would win. Two women, Kimberly Hulsey, current Miss Piedmont and a past Miss OU, and Taylor Treat, the current Miss OU and current BodyTrends Client, were left onstage. Taylor Treat (Miss Oklahoma) flanked by runners-ups (from left-to-right-Talia Berning (4th), Miss Edmond Liberty Fest, Kimberly Hulsey (1st), Miss Piedmont, Emoly West (2nd), Miss Grand Lake, and Demaris Pierce(3rd), Miss Tulsa) PHOTO BY JIM GRILLOT The crowd was uncontrollable with anticipation. As the announcent of first runner-up was made as Miss Piedmont, the anticipation turned into thunderous applause and and roars of approval. Taylor Treat, Miss University of Oklahoma, had become Miss Oklahoma 2009, following in the footsteps of Jennifer Berry and Lauren Nelson, who went on to become Miss America. Live updates, including the moment of the truth were tweeted live on facebook, and the announcement of the decision was first revealed on the BodyTrends Facebook Business page to more than a thousand people at 10:17 PM, even before reports by the local and states newschannels on air or on Facebook! The crowning of Taylor Treat, follows months of preparation overseen by the Mr. Josh Hammers, the Executive Director of the Miss OU Pageant, an intense week of preliminary pageant competition and practice for the production of this Miss Oklahoma pageant stage show. During that week, Taylor won the Swimwear competition, which is a measure of physical form, fitness and health, and the Talent competition. Taylor is an accomplished Ballet dancer, whose long lines and elegant form, accented the flawless performance in the preliminary Talent competition and on the night of the pageant. By the way, How many times did you come to BodyTrends for Treatment while the future Miss Oklahoma was in the next room? BodyTrends Medical Director, and Co-Owner, Dr. Harvey Jenkins PhD MD, was in attendance at The Miss Oklahoma Pageant as a Guest of Mrs. Norma Creech, Executive Director of the Miss South OKC pageant, and The Miss South OKC board. Her candidate at the Miss Oklahoma Pageant, Michelle McCoy, was one of 4 BodyTrends Clients participating in the state pageant including the pageant winner Taylor Treat. This is a feat that no other Med Spa in Oklahoma can lay claim to! The Other pageant contestants who were also BodyTrends Clients were Brittany Jo Bisel, Miss OKC and Taylor Upson, Miss UCO. According to Dr. Jenkins "It was an honor for BodyTrends to work with these exceptionally talented, intelligent, accomplished, and beautiful young women". "We were able to develop a customized treatment program to help them look their very best tonite". And on pageant night, Dr. Jenkins and the BodyTrends Staff, were very impressed with the results and the way their clients looked on the night it mattered most. The combination of the treatment lead to the signature "8-pack" that Taylor 'rocked' on stage. The effect of the Isogei was to bring out definition in Taylor's Abs, without overly masculinizing her appearance". "This is not easy to achieve" says Dr. Jenkins, but BodyTrends Spa Consultants and Spa Manager, Wanda Hutton and Stacey Neuhauser were up to the challenge. Neuhauser, who is the Manager of the South Electrospa, says "We learned a lot from treating Lauren Lunday, the current Miss Oklahoma USA, who competed recently in the Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas. Both have exceptional bodies, but our job was to figure out what the Pageant judges would be looking for and to apply that to each one's individual treatment regimens". What an exciting moment for the New Miss Oklahoma, whose life now becomes a whirlwind of preparation for Miss America.
