How about the choice of most women...Mascara...which is just a few swipes of a dark, gooey, tar at the end of a Mascara brush.
From Allergan, the makers of Botox Cosmetic for wrinkle removal, comes the new product poised to revolutionize the world of Beauty and change the way you look at hypotrichosis or 'unremarkable' (short, thin and sparse) eyelashes!
For people with unremarkable eyelashes, Mascara has been the main choice. It is the mainstay of a multi-billion dollar industry. We've all seen the Revlon, Covergirl, Mac Cosmetics, and Max Factor commercials, and are aware of many other cosmetic lines that feature or at least promise longer, thicker, and darker lashes.
Allergan launched Latisse in February of 2009, the first and only FDA-approved product for eyelash enhancement, to combat the problem of unremarkable eyelashes. In the end, these lashes don't come from a packet or ooze out of a bottle. They come from you.
The story of Latisse is quite interesting, according to BodyTrends Client and eye specialist, Dr Ralph Latimer of Latimer Vision Center. According to Dr. Latimer, it began as an "'eye-drop' medicine, under another brand name used to treat glaucoma, an eye condition where there is too much pressure inside the eye chambers". A very common 'side-effect' of treatment with the medicine, Lumigan (bimatoprost, ophthalmic solution, applied as an eye-drop), that was noted was the development of thicker and fuller eyelashes lashes. Eye doctors, as Dr. Latimer laughinglingly recalls, "have known about this side-effect of bimatoprast for years". Allergan was able to scientifically study this 'side-effect' to see if it could be modified and manipulated to occur as a deliberate effect for people with sparse eyelashes. In controlled studies performed for the FDA indication and approval process, Latisse (bimatoprost, 0.03% solution, applied topically to the eye lid base) was shown to increase eyelash length by 25%, eyelash thickness by 106% and darkness by 18%. It enhances lashes with vitrually no risks or side effects, although a small number of test subjects did indicate some itching and redness.
For eyelash enhancement, it is applied once-daily to the clean edge of the eyelid using a special disposable applicator supplied with the medication.

Quite Impressive, huh? Those lovely lashes can be yours! It also works on men who may have hypotrichosis, in general, are not comfortable with the application of Mascara. A notable exception would be the contestants on RuPaul's Drag Race.
